Return (long-term planning value):~1.5% p.a. as a conservative long-term anchor for FIRE projections – deliberately below current market rates (as of 2026: ECB deposit rate 2.5%, instant-access savings 2–3%), because over 20+ years low-interest phases (2015–2022 close to 0%) have to be factored in too.
